Imagine 64 fourth-graders showing up on a yellow school bus for a field trip with two teachers, a principal, and a couple of parent volunteers at a luxury resort where children are not necessarily encouraged.
In April Auberge du Soleil invites the fourth-graders from Northwood Elementary School to experience the Relais & Chateaux property. In honor of Earth Day they discuss the importance of resource conservation, highlighting math concepts and how math is used at Auberge on a daily basis.
The students take a site tour and ask questions like: How many gallons of water are in the resort’s swimming pool? How many steps from the lobby to a guest room? The students enjoy a heathy lunch from the kitchen at Auberge always finishing off with a delicious dessert prepared by the award winning pastry chef. Students often comment that they want to work in hospitality when they grow up. The day is an experience the students will never forget and the staff at the resort are proud to be a part of.
Since 2011, Auberge du Soleil has been an Adopt A School partner and paired with Northwood Elementary School. In addition to the field trips, the luxury resort staff also supports the school’s annual fair & fundraiser, hosts teacher appreciation events, spends weekends cleaning and beautifying the campus and has also engaged their network to design a new school logo.
